Laser Cutting Nozzle FAQ

What is a laser cutting nozzle and what does it do?

A laser cutting nozzle is the consumable at the tip of the cutting head. It shapes and directs the assist gas - oxygen, nitrogen or compressed air - into the kerf, protects the protective lens from spatter and slag, and stabilizes gas flow. Nozzle condition directly affects cut quality, dross, cutting speed and gas consumption.

Which laser cutting heads are these nozzles compatible with?

They fit mainstream fiber laser cutting heads, including Precitec, Raytools, BOCHU, WSX, Bodor, HSG, Lead Laser and Glory Star types, plus equivalent models. They are aftermarket consumables matched to original dimensions, not original-brand parts. Send your head model, the original part number, or a photo with a caliper reading of thread and length and we will confirm the match before you order.

How do I choose the right nozzle diameter?

Tell us your cutting material and thickness, we will give the recommendation.

Single-layer or double-layer - which one do I need?

Single-layer nozzles are the economical choice for everyday cutting on thin to medium sheet. Double-layer nozzles use an inner copper core with an outer shell; they handle high gas pressure better, keep spatter away from the lens and last longer in high-power or thick-plate work.

What are the nozzles made of, and why chrome plating?

High-purity copper or brass with a precision-machined orifice; most sizes are chrome-plated on the outer surface. The chrome layer reduces spatter adhesion, resists oxidation and lowers the risk of spatter reaching the protective lens. It is a functional coating, not a cosmetic one.

How do I install a nozzle correctly?

Clean the mounting face and thread, screw the nozzle in by hand until it seats, then tighten lightly - never with pliers or an impact tool. Overtightening distorts the orifice and makes removal difficult later. After fitting, check that the nozzle is concentric with the beam path and that the ceramic ring is not cracked.

What standoff height should I use?

Most fiber laser processes run roughly 0.5-1.2 mm, set by the head's height control and your process parameters. Always follow the head manufacturer's recommended value for your material and thickness - a wrong standoff affects both cut quality and nozzle life.

How often should I replace the nozzle?

Replace on condition rather than on a fixed schedule. Warning signs: a deformed or melted tip, an out-of-round or enlarged orifice, spatter that cannot be cleaned off, dross that will not clear after checking focus and gas, or cut quality that changes between directions and at corners.

Do you offer samples, custom sizes or OEM marking?

Yes. We recommend a trial of the sizes you use most so you can verify fit, cut quality and life on your own machine. Custom orifice sizes, lengths, laser marking and neutral or branded packaging are available per order - send the drawing or original part number with quantity for confirmation.

What about shipping, lead time and returns?

Stocked sizes ship quickly; custom or high-volume orders need production time confirmed per order. Each nozzle is individually protected, then inner box and export carton, with size labels to prevent mixing. Confirmed specification or manufacturing issues are replaced or credited - normal wear, wrong size selection and installation damage are not covered.
